Top places I use my NUS student discount.

Having an NUS card can be amazing, if you’re a student or just got one on the sly. You can use it in so many places. However I wanted to let you know some of my favourite places I use my NUS card and what I actually get when I use them. Having the card is all well and good but if you have no idea where you can use it, not so good! So sit back and enjoy the discounts. Oh, I’ve not been endorsed or sponsored by any of these companies, I just like bargains! Co-Op At the Co-Op you get 10% off your food shopping. Which is perfect for most students because it doesn’t matter what university you’re at, there’s normally a Co-Op lurking around the corner waiting for your hard earned student finance! It doesn’t matter if you’re a student or just a normal every day…

How to get Free student prescriptions and more!

Being a student can be difficult, I mean that’s just the stress involved with your work and actually turning up to university. If you have a long term condition that you are taking medication for then it can be even worse. I suffer from mental health, BPD to be exact and I have to take medication for it daily. It can be expensive but thankfully there are things in place to help us students out, like free prescriptions. So the NHS have this thing in place to do with a low income scheme. So imagine it like your student finance, the less money your parents and yourself earn; the more help that you will get. This is one of them instances where you’ll get help and most students will fall under this. If you’re not sure, apply anyway and find out; what have you got to lose? Okay, what is…

Students, plan your future in year one!

Ask most students and they will tell you that the reason they are doing their course is because they want to work in that industry. You have the odd few that took their course because they didn’t know what they wanted to do, so they wanted to piss about for a few years though; I won’t be focusing on them! I want to talk about the students that have taken the direction in which they want to work and are focusing on university, with no end goal in sight. Although I want to talk about what happens after graduating and what you need to be prepared for, I also want to talk about a few options that might come up while you’re studying. The main one being placements, no matter how long. So take a read and find out why I’m so passionate about them, even if I hated the…

A Uni Students Guide to Exam Preparation!

It’s currently Christmas and New Year. Unlike everyone else who is running around and getting drunk, I’m preparing for an exam! I hate exams, I’m not good at exams and I even have use of a computer due to my dyslexia and the added extra time. None of it helps on the day when I have loads to remember however. I remember failing my exams in school, GCSE’s hated me and that was fine. I always picked courses that didn’t have exams and even got told my current uni course had no exams when attending open day, you can imagine my surprise when I got told that we did in fact have multiple exams over the course!! So I’ve needed to adapt ways in which I revise and actually try and remember what I need to! Apart from cheating which is obviously a NO! So let’s chat about some of…

University, 4 things they don’t tell you in the brochure.

I’ve been at university a few years now. In fact I had to drop out of my first course due to the lack of support, that isn’t something we’re going to get into; not today anyway. I have to admit, when you come to an open day the university has a way of making everything flow; they look perfect and you just can’t wait to start. However I’ve a few years under my belt and sometimes that just isn’t the case. I mean if I knew everything I know now when I started things would have turned differently. So I wanted to pass a little knowledge and wisdom onto the freshers and hopefully you’ll learn something new along the way. 1, Freshers flu, it doesn’t stop. If you haven’t heard of freshers flu, buckle up! It sucks, if you’re a fresher you need to pay close attention. Current students will…
