So I love traditional food, a nice hot cottage pie when I get home is bliss. I thought though that I would have to give it up when I started Slimming World, how wrong I was! All I had to do was syn what I used and make sure it was easier to make as I don’t have all the time in the world. Well I did it and now I want to share it with you! So have a look.


500g mince
A handful of the following chopped items, carrots, butternut squash, onions, peppers, mushrooms. All of mine were frozen and I had cut up weeks before, handy tip for you!
Aldi meat gravy 10 teaspoons, I would recommend using Bisto though as the syn value is smaller. 2.5 Syns
Mr Mash 200g. 2 Syns.
Everyday Essential Grated Cheese from Aldi, 50g. 2.5 Syns. Or 30g for a healthy option.
Salt/pepper and oregano.
Two garlic cloves, optional!

Total Syns = 7 Syns per serving. Serves 4.



1, Gather all your ingredients up together. Coat a deep frying pan in fry light, salt, pepper and a pinch of oregano. Put in the mince and cook for 5 minutes. Add the garlic for flavor. Separate the mince from the oil and leave to one side. Cook on medium heat.

 2, Put the veg into a deep cooking pan and add oregano, salt and pepper. Put on a low heat for a couple of minutes and then add the mince, be sure to take out the garlic at this point. Leave the pan onto simmer at a low heat. Make up your gravy using your 10 teaspoons of gravy, less if you want. Add gravy to the mince/veg and leave to simmer. Come back to this mix every 5 minutes to stir, leave to simmer for 25 minutes

3, While the mix is simmering on the hob get a pan and follow the instructions on the Mr Mash box to make up your mash, you want to make the mash a couple of minutes before your mix has done simmering. You can now take your mix off the heat and transfer it into your cooking dish, add the mash on top and if wanted add a little salt and pepper into the mash. You can now put it in the oven at an average heat of 180 for 25 minutes.

4, 5 minutes before the cooking is complete sprinkle 50g of grated cheese on top. If you want to add more make sure you syn it, 5 syns for every 25g. Once the cooking is finished you can serve up four portions and enjoy!!(null)
