In the world of reselling a lot can be confusing, you might not know what items to go for and sometimes it can be difficult to wade through the junk to find the diamonds! However in the life of reselling you will find that people often find the gems you have been looking for, you may get a little jealous but is it wise to keep a look out for these items?
Most people would say yes, at a certain extent I would have to agree. Although you need to be careful, if you follow the trend and don’t cover your behind it could land you in trouble with a lot of dead stock!
You might be thinking, how on earth can you determine if an item is worth buying? Well first of all if you have come across an item that everyone seems to be selling find out how long people have been selling it. You will find that once one person announces that an item sells really well, the market will become flooded.
I saw this last year in terms of the Wii fit boards. Someone on social media decided to share that you could easily get £20-£25 for a Wii fit board. Great I thought, well so did everyone else. I managed to sell three until the market became totally flooded with them. A Wii fit board is an easy item to find at the carboot and normally for as little as a couple of quid.
In no time the eBay was flooded with them and now you might get £10-£15 for them! My advice would be to make sure you check eBay and search under sold listings as well. Just to make sure that you are still getting the price for them that you want. If you see the item is losing value, time to cut it out of your stock hunt
Sure you will get rare and hard to find items which means you might still make the money if you come across one in the wild, just make sure the item is worth your time. There are a few reselling groups on Facebook that I would advise joining. As soon as you see everyone in a group getting the same items, I wouldn’t bother looking for them!
I guess the risk is yours to take at the end of the day however and reselling is all about learning and adapting with the times. Just like the Wii fit boards let me know if there was an item you had to cut out because the market was flooded!
