3 Ways to combat mental health

Everything is an expense these days, it’s getting tougher and companies just want you to buy their product even if it’s a load of rubbish. However who doesn’t like something for nothing right? The same can be said about ways to overcome and deflect bad mental health episodes. I’m forever having bad mental health episodes that can be really difficult to handle and I’m not prepared to spend money on products that might not work.

Which is why I started to look for free alternatives that I could use to help me maintain mental health and help get me out of them bad episodes. Free, that means I can’t even talk about my famous anxiety comfort box (although I couldn’t write a post and not try and get it in there!) the 3 things I’m about to chat about are totally free so give them a try!

Exercise and positive mental health

I get it, exercise isn’t going to be for everyone and that’s fine. If exercising or slow strolls aren’t your thing then just move onto the second free thing you can do. That being said I love going for walks, they don’t have to be fast paced either. Just taking a stroll in the countryside, down the beach or anywhere can be refreshing and you can just zone out and think about anything you want! If you really want you can see if a friend, partner or family member wants to go with you and you can chat the entire time; I however prefer to be alone.

Entertainment and social media

I want to focus on YouTube more because I feel that there’s loads of entertainment just sitting there and you don’t have to pay a penny. Course you might have to sit through a few adverts and no one likes that but you don’t have to pay for the content. I can watch YouTube for ages and not get bored, and I do!

You can also use other social medias to relax and pass the time. I prefer Instagram because you can see so many pictures or stories. You don’t get lost in peoples hate and endless dumb comments and you can like at a double tap while still scrolling! So check out Instagram or YouTube for free and fun content!

Competitions and distractions

One of my favourites! Enter some online social media competitions for fun. It takes up so much time and it’s totally free. I would suggest using Twitter to enter competitions but you can read more about it in my competition post. I’ve won loads through competitions in the past although don’t have time for it much these days. I’ve even won Britians Got Talent tickets for four, which was EPIC! IF you want more tips about how to win even more competitions through Twitter then read this post!

So there you have it, 3 free ways to overcome negative mental health episodes. You don’t have to pay a penny, you can if you want for added extras but the beauty of it is you don’t need to. There are so many products out there that demand a huge one off payment or a monthly subscription and sometimes it’s just not worth it.

If you’re ever going to pay for a product that claims to help with mental health then do your research first. There are so many false claims about products these days so do your homework and make sure you know what you’re buying. I won’t ever promote anything unless I believe in it.
